The Tournament

The Singapore Open is one of the most traditional golf tournaments in Asia. It was held for the first time in 1961. Many prominent names have made the list of winners: major champions Angel Cabrera, Adam Scott and, last year, Spaniard Sergio Garcia have all had their turn at lifting the trophy.

The 2019 tournament will be held from January 17 to 20 at Sentosa Golf Club's Serapong Course.

Jazz’s victory at the Sentosa Golf Club not only moved him into the top-100 in the world rankings (he shot up to 74th position), but also earned him a place in this year’s Open Championship -where he made his major debut last year.

With its first appearance as the official automotive partner of the SMBC Singapore Open, Porsche was an essential part of the tournament’s organization. The 20 vehicles provided by the company ensured the smooth and relaxed arrival and departure of all players at the Sentosa Golf Club.

The Partnership

Demonstrating remarkable steadiness and composure throughout the four days of the tournament, Jazz Janewattananondwon the title of the SMBC Singapore Open. The 23-year-old Thai golfer left all the other favorites behind in order to claim his third Asian Tour victory. Janewattananond, who has been playing professionally since 2010, made quite an impression in all four rounds with his consistent top-level performance: he followed each of the two 68 rounds with a 65 round on the final days, with only 4 bogeys and an impressive 22 birdies. He ended the tournament with 18-under, giving him a 2-stroke advantage over joint runners-up Paul Casey and Yoshinori Fujimoto. Fujimoto was in the lead until the third day, but lost his chances of winning with a 68 final round.

Defending champion Sergio Garcia didn't stand a chance this year and tied for seventh place, 10 strokes behind the winner.
